CIVICUS Digital Action Lab 2024 (up to $30,000)

DAL is an initiative that equips civil society activists with the knowledge, means, and self-assurance to effectively promote inclusive democracy in nations where civic space is restricted.

The goal is to develop practical pilot projects that, among other things, improve cooperation with regional allies while bolstering the campaigning, lobbying, and organizational skills of involved civil society organizations in the Global South. They will gain the skills, strategies, and resources necessary to assist even more pro-democracy groups by doing this.

Up to ten civil society organizations will be chosen as DAL cohorts by CIVICUS through an open nomination and application process. These participants will collaborate with each other, the CIVICUS teams, and technical experts over a nine-month period to produce a fully financed project that will be implemented in their local area.

The amount of grants will vary from $10,000 to $30,000. Along with opportunities to engage with larger networks and events, participants will also receive ongoing non-financial assistance and thorough coaching. In 2024 and 2026, there will be three DAL cohorts.

Benefits of CIVICUS Digital Action Lab 2024

  • Participate in the DAL through online collaboration tools, virtual workshops, localized implementation activities, and at least one in-person workshop. This is an organized approach to meaningful interaction. The goal of this arrangement of locations and styles is to optimize chances for community development, peer education, and interaction with the DAL team.
  • Sharing knowledge and documenting strategies: Participate in the production of case studies, infographics, films, and other knowledge products that record your strategies, accomplishments, and lessons discovered. Your experiences will be disseminated to other civil society actors to support their efforts to increase civic and democratic freedoms through the DDI knowledge hub and wider CIVICUS strategic networks.
  • Demonstrate your accomplishments and take advantage of networking possibilities by taking part in a DAL achievement summit at the initiative’s conclusion. You can also engage wider networks by attending events and communities like I4C, Vuka, RightsCon, and others. Make connections with like-minded people, exchange triumphs and setbacks, and encourage teamwork to improve your job even more.
