The MuseumsLab is an initiative that brings together professionals from Europe and Africa to learn together, network, and exchange perspectives.

Bringing them together to create connections between people, organizations, countries, and two continents in order to have a meaningful conversation on how museums can address their history, serve the demands of the modern world, and strive for a just and fair future. Activities for the program will run from June 6, 2024, until December 10, 2024.

Value

The following program-related expenses will be paid for by the DAAD during the on-site phases:

  • Transportation to and from program locations, both domestically and internationally (cheapest economy-class airfare and second-class train tickets).
  • During Module 2, Module 3, and the Residences, use local public transportation (if applicable).
  • Airport transfers (if appropriate, residences in Africa, Module 3 in Accra).
  • Visa processing fees (for official visa procedures).
  • Health insurance (with a 40-Euro maximum reimbursement).
  • Accommodations for the residency locations and on-site modules.
  • Entry fees for the program.
  • Daily stipend for the modules and residencies that are conducted on-site (limited pay for meals not included in the program).

Eligibility Criteria 

  • Candidates must be employed in the museum, cultural, or artistic fields at the moment.
  • Two years or more of hands-on experience in a museum, historic site, or creative space with an emphasis on subjects including technology, natural sciences, architecture, art, and cultural history.
  • Dedication to the initiative.
  • Adequate command of the English language.
  • The applicant’s current domicile must be in Europe or Africa.
  • If you are a past participant in the MuseumsLab program, your application will not be taken into consideration.
