Applications are open for the Deutsche Welle (DW) Journalism Traineeship 2025-2026. One of the most prominent journalistic training programs in Germany and abroad is the DW traineeship, which equips participants with the knowledge and abilities necessary to succeed as multimedia reporters and editors.

Aside from the DW editorial offices and their correspondent bureau in Brussels and Washington, the program includes a wide range of skills that a future-ready journalist will require, including TV moderation, data journalism, multimedia storytelling, social media, and virtual reality.
These skills are taught in seminars and workshops. In addition to participating in long-term, innovative international projects, DW trainees have previously won the Grimme Prize and the CNN Journalism Award. The trainees typically stay on staff at DW after completing their traineeship.

Eligibility for Deutsche Welle (DW) Journalism Traineeship 2025-2026 (paid position)
- A degree from an accredited college, university, or apprenticeship program (particularly if you have experience in science, technology/IT, politics, economics, or law).
- Open to native German speakers with exceptional English language skills or native speakers of one of DW’s languages with great English language abilities.
- Applicants from a variety of professions are also being considered, including IT specialists, doctors, lawyers, nurses, chefs, pilots, football referees, and players.
