It’s a great opportunity to gain valuable experience and contribute to the development of Jamaica. For two (2) years, talented and highly motivated Jamaicans can work on, support, and implement high-priority initiatives in the public sector as part of the famous Jamaica House Fellowship Program.
Jamaica House Fellowship Programme 2024
The Government of Jamaica (GOJ), through the office of the Prime Minister (OPM), established the Jamaica House Fellowship Programme (JHFP) in 2016 in recognition of the many talented Jamaicans who would make significant contributions to their country’s development if given the chance.
Being chosen to be a Jamaica House Fellow is a privilege and an honor. The JHFP requires the Fellows to work with senior GOJ technocrats for two (2) years as full-time, paid Fellows assigned to Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) of Government. Fellows complete challenging assignments in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.
Core Duties for the Jamaica House Fellowship Programme 2024
- Assist with top-level decision-making by offering insight and support.
- Assist in timely and effective coordination and monitoring of the status of initiatives amongst government ministries, departments, and agencies.
- Fellows get high-level, first-hand experience with and exposure to the workings of the public sector.
- Fellows are more qualified to hold jobs in the GOJ and private industry.
- Fellows benefit both the country and the areas in which they live.
- Fellows get a deeper understanding and regard for public service.
- Fellows help re-engineer procedures to increase productivity in the public sector.
- Candidates must all be citizens of Jamaica.
- The age range for candidates to apply is 18 to 35 years old at the time of submission.
- Own a bachelor’s degree.
- Understanding of Vision 2030, GOJ aims, and economic programs and strategies.
- Knowledge of globalization and international affairs, such as the effects of globalization and Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) on Jamaica’s economic growth and development, as well as the strategic priorities of the European Union (EU), the World Bank, and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB),.
- A track record of exceptional success in the workplace.
- Powerful leadership abilities.
- Outstanding communication skills, both in writing and speaking.
- Outstanding organizing and research abilities.
- Proof of a dedication to volunteer work in the community.
- The capacity for initiative.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities.
