Nigerian Minister Promised School Re-Opening
The resumption of secondary schools is a decision fully agreed to by the Federal Ministry of Education board, Nigerian Union of Teachers, Commissioners of Education of the 36 states, chief executives of the examination bodies, and the proprietors of private schools. With this being agreed on, the dates for the WAEC exams surfaces.
Every decision made were to prevent the spread of COVID-19 virus among these students that usually gather in a large number for this yearly exam. Mr. Goong said that an educational meeting also stated that an appeal should be made to the federal government through the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and Nigerians for great assistance to schools across Nigeria to enables these students to engage in fast preparations for safe resumption and examinations. Later on, another meeting will be held for NECO, NABTEB, NBAIS, to harmonize their examination dates.

WAEC Announces Official SSCE Exam Date
After some months of postponement, the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) has finally announced that these exams will take place in August. The kick-off date for the 2020 school examination falls on the month of August. However, the main dates are not certain yet, as several different news platforms carry different dates. But we are so hopeful that exams are to commence in the month of August as announced by the FG.
The Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, revealed this at the meeting from the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19. He also said these exams would begin by August to end by September. According to the Minister, after the WAEC exams, the NECO and NABTEB exams will hold.
