Nigeria Artificial Intelligence Research Scheme 2023 (up to N5,000,000)
With financial support, knowledge sharing, and collaboration between individuals and organizations in the AI business, this program seeks to develop a thriving and sustainable AI ecosystem in Nigeria. 45 winning AI researchers or start-ups in the following fields, among others, could get up to N5,000,000 each:
- Finance
- Agriculture
- Education and Workforce
- Governance
- Healthcare
- Unity
- Sustainability
Eligibility
- Open to consortiums of international or Nigerian university researchers, start-ups, or technological companies.
- A research proposal that fits the AI priority areas of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy is required.
- A comprehensive proposal describing the project and its possible effects on the Nigerian economy must be submitted by the applicant.
- Must possess a track record of accomplishments in research or entrepreneurship that can be verified.
- Within a year of obtaining the funding, the recipient must be able to publish at least one peer-reviewed article.
Selection Standards for the Nigerian Artificial Intelligence Research Scheme 2023
A group of AI specialists will assess grant applications. The following will be among the selection criteria:
- The applicant’s history of success in entrepreneurship or research
- Novelty and originality of the research proposal
- Alignment of the research with the Ministry’s AI priority areas
- Feasibility of the project.
