The call for the third cohort of the One Planet Fellowship 2021 For African Researchers is now open for applications. The fellowship seeks to build and develop a vibrant, highly connected, and intergenerational network of African and European scientists.

This is the second cohort that the One Planet Fellowship for African Researchers is launching. This time around the One Planet Fellowship initiative was extended to the North African Region focusing on scientists from Morocco and Algeria.

One Planet Fellowship 2021 For African Researchers

The One Planet Fellowship is inspired by the Award Fellowship Model. The five-year USD 19.2 million initiatives seek to invest in over 600 agricultural scientists. All applicants that are selected will participate in a three-year non-residential career acceleration process to foster leadership skills.

The initiative also fosters strengthening scientific research skills including integrating gender into their research, catalyzing research partnerships, and networks. Candidates who complete the three-year process will qualify to become One Planet Laureates.

Application Guideline/Criteria for One Planet Fellowship 2021 For African Researchers

Applicants should read the guideline for application carefully before proceeding to apply for the fellowship program. Below are the eligibilities criteria;

  • Applicant must be a citizen from Algeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, cote d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, Togo, and Zambia.
  • The application must be from those 40 years or younger by February 15, 2021
  • Have at least a master degree or equivalent in any area relevant to climate change with a focus on agriculture and food system
  • Applicants must reside in Africa and actively engaged in research relevant to the application.

Pre-conditions For Participating In The One Planet Fellowship

The successful applicants will be confirmed upon;

  • Submission and verification of the details of relevant authorities and formal endorsement by the home institution
  • Submission and verification of required documentation to confirm the fellowship offer
  • Acceptance of the AWARD’s code of conduct
  • Timely, official communication to award on the participation in any capacity building programs.

Interested applicants should follow the steps below to apply for the fellowship program.

  • The application portal will display. Select your country, enter your email address and click on the “CONTINUE/CONTINUER” button
  • You will be directed to the application form. On that form, enter your surname, first, and other names.
  • Select your gender and date of birth, enter your place of birth and nationality
  • Enter your country of residence, city, phone number with area code, email and click on the “Next” button
  • Provide your education information/qualification both completed and ongoing and click on the “Next” button
  • Select your professional status and provide your employment information
  • Describe your motivation technically, professionally, personally with a maximum of 200 words each and click on the “Next”
  • Continue with the steps on the application by continuously on the “Next” button till the last step of the application.
