the NIHR Research partnership for the control of disease in Africa is a partnership between researchers, health policymakers, and other stakeholders from Tanzania, Uganda, and the UK region.

RESPOND-AFRICA Fellowship 2021-2022 For Postgraduate Study In Medical Statistics/Epidemiology For Africa Students.

This fellowship is an opportunity by which the organization offers its capacity development scheme and strategy. The scheme will provide funding aids for 2 years. The first year of the fellowship is to study for an MSc in Medicine statistics or Epidemiology at the London school of hygiene and tropical medicine.

On the other side, an attachment-based at one of the partner institutions in Tanzania or Uganda working as a statistician or an epidemiologist to gain on the job training and many more are done in the second year of the program.

The main focus of the organization currently is to control hypertension, diabetes, and HIV-infection. The National Institute for Health Research is also planning to expand to incorporate mental health in the future.

  • Applicants must be a resident in and be a national of an African country
  • They must have an excellent first degree in mathematics, medical statistic, or a very related subject
  • Applicant must have at least one year of experience working in Africa as a statistician or epidemiologist
  • Must be able to meet English language requirements for studying in the UK
  • Applicants must be interested in research on the control of chronic diseases

Although the fellowship preference is for applicants wishing to study the MSc full-time, face-to-face in London and on-line MSc course provided they can complete their study and attachment within a3-years.
