Applications are now open for the Rwanda Institute for Conservation Agriculture (RICA) 2021.

At the end of every year of the 3-year program, all students of RICA earn a Bachelor of Science degree in conversation Agriculture. You can also choose a specialty in Animal Production, Crop Production, Mechanization, or Food Processing.

RICA is located in Karama, Rweru Sector, Bugesera District, is a unique English language institution, unlike any other in Africa.

Our world-class curriculum combines education, research, and community extensions to train you in Rwanda’s next generation of leaders in Agriculture. RICA will also prepare you with the skills to be successful in business: leadership, entrepreneurship, and communication.

We’ll also train you in principles of Conversation Agriculture and One Health, which are critical to sustaining Rwanda’s agriculture sector.

Apply for Rwanda Institute for Conservation Agriculture. Applications are accepted online from 20 November 2020 through 7 January 2021.

RICA is looking for passionate young men and women who are ready to invest in their careers, communities, and the agricultural transformation of Rwanda.

At RICA, we are preparing students to pursue ideas that can revolutionize Rwanda’s agriculture sector, all while honoring our history and culture. We seek talented young leaders with a passion to be innovators and entrepreneurs.


Here are the eligibility criteria for admission;

  • Applicants must be Rwanda citizen
  • Only applicants who sat for their national examination in the year 2019 are eligible to apply.
  • Demonstrated leadership and entrepreneurship potential
  • Demonstrated passion for agriculture.
  • Demonstrated English proficiency on RICA’s language examinations.
  • Minimum National Exam score of 40 (REB) or 36 (WDA).
  • Minimum 2 Principal Passes on National Examinations.

Applicants must complete Secondary education in 2019 and 2020 under foreign or international education programs (E.g. Cambridge, International Baccalaureate, etc.) are encouraged to apply.

Holders of such qualifications are advised to submit an equivalence certificate issued by the Rwanda Education Board (RED).

Al students admitted to RICA are given a full 3-year scholarship, including tuition, medical insurance, accommodation, and meals on campus.
