Samsung Galaxy S22

Some refinement in camera performance would be accepted, just like the likes of the iPhone 12 Pro set the bar high for smartphone photography over the past year. So, by the time the Samsung Galaxy S22 arrives in the market, it will need to square off against the iPhone 13 and Google Pixel 6 and the latter’s new Tensor chips.

What does this Samsung Galaxy S22 look like? Rumor suggests that the Galaxy S22 Plus will see a slightly smaller display, but a major camera boost via Samsung’s new 50MP ISOCEL GN5 sensor

It also claimed the Samsung Galaxy S22 could have a smaller battery than the Galaxy S21, with the battery tipped to be rated for 3,590 mAh. Another rumor has it that the Galaxy S22 will come with a 50MP camera, faster-charging speeds, but no under-display camera lens.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Price

Currently, there is no rumor about the Galaxy S22 yet, but we anticipate that Samsung will keep the prices similar to the Galaxy S21 lineup. However, Samsung reduced the cost for all three models by $200, and we don’t see prices going back up.

So, if Samsung stays consistent, the S22 will cost $799, the Galaxy S22 Plus will be $999 and the Galaxy S22 Ultra will be priced at $1,199.

Also, it will be an interesting thing to see if the company introduces a lower-cost Galaxy S21 FE sometime between now and the S22’s release, but there’s a rumor that the S21 FE could be delayed due to the global chip shortage.

Galaxy S22 Design and Under-display Camera

The biggest change that might come with the Galaxy S22 is an under-display camera, which is a feature that debuted to mixed success in the Galaxy Z Fold 3. Thus, it will enable a true full-screen design without a traditional punch hole at the top of the display.

And according to LetsGoDigital, the company (Samsung) has filed a patent for a punch-hole camera with a sub-display. Also, an internal pop-up display covers the selfie camera when it’s not in use. There’s a rumor from Ice Universe that claims the Galaxy S22 might not get an under-display camera after all.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Displays

A rumor from leaker Mauri QHD, someone who has a pretty good track record with Samsung leaks, claims that Samsung is shrinking the displays on the Galaxy S22 lineup compared to the Galaxy S21; Ice Universe, another leaker has shared the same thing. This is indeed a good thing and that the Galaxy S22 could save people from oversized phones.

Further, the Galaxy S22 would be 6.06 inches (down from 6.2 inches on the S21); the S22 Plus would sport a 6.5-inch panel (down from 6.7 inches), and the Galaxy S22 Ultra would be 6.81 inches (down from 6.9 inches). However, the S22 Plus’s display shrinkage was further backed by a report from Slash Gear.

Galaxy S22 Cameras

A Galaxy S22 camera upgrade might come in the form of a potential Samsung partnership with Olympus. And based on several tweets from usually reliable sources, the two firms are set to partner on cameras for forthcoming smartphones, with the Galaxy S22 Ultra tipped to be the first phone to get the new tech.

A rumor from leakers Ice Universe and Digital Chat Station earlier suggests that the Galaxy S22 Ultra will come with a huge 200MP sensor to take on the iPhone 13. While in a more recent tip Ice Universe has backtracked and claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will have an improved 108MP sensor rather than a 200MP camera.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Specs and Graphics

The main chip powering the Galaxy S22 might be the new Snapdragon 895, which is said to be a 4nm chip. In fact, rumor has it that Samsung could be the company to manufacture the Snapdragon 895. The Samsung Galaxy S22 might have a major boost in graphics power, with a GPU based on AMD’s rDNA 2 architectures, which happens to underpin the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

It does not mean that the Galaxy S22 will have the power of the latest games consoles, but it could easily surpass the handsets on our best gaming phones list. However, this rumor has been given more credence with a tip that Samsung is testing several configurations of a new Exynos 2200 chip that sports AMD graphics.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Battery and Charging

Early Galaxy S22 rumors centered around charging. It was rumored that the company might re-introduce upwards of 65W fast charging with the Galaxy S22. Moreover, it looks like the Galaxy S22 Ultra will be the one to offer 45W charging speeds, while the S22 and S22 Plus stick with the same 25W charging speed as the Galaxy S21 range.
