Shamiri Institute Thrive! Fellowship Program 2021

The mission of Shamiri Institute Thrive! Fellowship Program 2021 is to provide at-risk and beyond, with the tools to improve their life outcomes. The research, develop, and disseminate evidence-based interventions that provide youths with a path to securing important life outcomes.

Shamiri Institute Thrive! Fellowship was founded by Harvard graduates and launched in Kenya in 2012. The non-profit organization combines rigorous social science research with deep contextual knowledge of the Kenyan educational and mental healthcare systems.

Deadline for Fellowship Application

The applications for the Shamiri Institute Thrive! Fellowship is still ongoing so a deadline is not fixed yet.

Responsibilities of Applicants

the following are the roles and responsibilities of applicants for the Thrive! Program;

  • You must complete the fellowship training.
  • Make sure to be attending all of the program sessions to which you are assigned and always arriving on time.
  • Acting with supervision to help ensure participant confidentiality, health, and safety.
  • Attending meetings with the Shamiri supervisors is relaying information promptly outside of the meetings when necessary.
  • Must be leading Project Thrive! Sessions.

Shamiri Institute Thrive! Fellowship Program Requirements

The following requirements must be met;

  • Applicants must be a high school graduate (minimum KCSE grade: C+)
  • There should be no past work experience (or experience in psychology or counseling is required)
  • Demonstrate the ability to recognize and reflect on one’s values, attitudes, beliefs, biases, emotions, and past experiences. Use mistakes as opportunities for growth.
  • Show and demonstrate an interest in helping others and ensuring their confidentiality, fair treatment, safety, and wellbeing.
  • Demonstrate the ability to recognize and reflect on one’s values, attitudes, beliefs, biases, emotions, and past experiences. Use mistakes as opportunities for growth.
  • Possess organizational and problem-solving skills; show that you are responsible.
  • Possess strong communication skills with supervisors.

These are the requirement for this Shamiri Institute Thrive! Fellowship Program.

Program Benefit

All Thrive! Fellows receive a monthly stipend (KES 20,000) including transport allowances.
