SNAP EBT – What is it all about? First and foremost, the abbreviation SNAP- stands for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program. While EBT stands for Electronic Benefits Transfer. That is to say, SNAP EBT is a supplemental nutrition assistance program offered through an electronic benefits transfer.



SNAP is one of the largest federal nutrition assistance programs. It offers benefits to qualified low-income individuals and families through an Electronic Benefits Transfer card. However, the card can be used as a debit card to purchase eligible food in authorized retail food stores.
