UCLA Graduate Admission Requirements for International Students
After obtaining your bachelor’s degree, and you want to further your education, UCLA Graduate Program gat you covered. It’s a home for all, resident/non-resident, citizens/International students are all welcomed to apply. Once you meet their administration requirements and criteria, you’re good to go.
Below are the requirements for graduate admissions at UCLA;
- Bachelor Degree.
- Scholastic average.
- TOEFL/IELTS test.
- Later of recommendation.
Bachelor Degree Requirements
As an applicant, you need a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, comparable in standard and content to a bachelor’s degree from the University of California. So, degrees that are not considered comparable are those degrees given based on work completed at institutions that are not fully accredited.
Those granted are based on non-academic prior learning, test scores, or other than organized supervised coursework in academic subjects.
Applicants also need an overall scholastic average of B that is 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or better is required, or its equivalent if the letter grade system is not used and in any post-baccalaureate study.
An international student whose post-secondary education was completed outside the US is expected to have a degree representing completion of at least four years of study with above average/very good scholarship from a university or university-level institution.
If your school education was completed in English, you are considered proficient and you do not need to satisfy this requirement. But applicants who got their bachelor’s degree in a country where English was not the language of instruction, will be required to show English proficiency if they have had less than 3 years of instruction in English.
However, to demonstrate English language proficiency, applicants are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the International English Language Testing Service (IELTS), or the Duolingo English Test (Fall 2021 and 2022 only, under review for Fall 2023).
Candidates, both U.S. citizens, and Permanent Residents, who do not have a bachelor’s or higher degree from a university located in the United States or in another country in which English is both the spoken language of daily life and the medium of instruction, or who have not finished at least two years of full-time study at such an institution, endeavor to consult English Requirements.
Transcripts, Statements, and Letters of Recommendation: these are documents to Be Uploaded into the Application or Sent to the Department/Program/School.
The school needs records from the school you obtained your first degree. However, documents of all university coursework must also be sent in the original language, along with English translations. Note; do not send these documents now. If you apply and are admitted, your admission packet will have instructions, you’ll follow the instructions given.
Furthermore, submitted application materials are accessed and reviewed by faculty admissions committees in each major program who choose the best-qualified candidates. So, the admissions board bases recommendations for admission upon a careful comparison of applications, and the process may take a little time.
