World Bank Accountability Mechanism Internship Program 2024

The AM is an independent complaints mechanism that aims to provide a platform for people and communities who believe that they have been, or are likely to be, negatively impacted by a World Bank-funded project.

As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals and contribute to the AM’s work in investigating and addressing complaints related to World Bank-funded projects.

For individuals and communities who think they have been hurt or are going to be affected by a project supported by the World Bank, there is an impartial complaints system called the World Bank Accountability System (AM).

Highly motivated young professionals from the global south have the chance to learn about the goals and activities of the World Bank Accountability Mechanism through the Dispute Resolution Service (DRS) of the World Bank Accountability Mechanism (AM).

Key duties include:

  • Compiling data on projects, current affairs, activity research, and publications on topics linked to Dispute Resolution Service (DRS) activities from both internal (World Bank Group) and external (media, NGOs, and borrowers) sources.
  • Supplying background information on development concerns connected to indigenous identity, gender equality, and the environment that are disputed
  • Assist DRS employees with case-related tasks such as case filling, research, taking notes, and DRS case analysis.
  • Upload case-related data to the case management system (CMS) and, with the assistance of DRS staff, make sure that all pertinent and significant case points—such as correspondence, call and meeting notes, and documents—are entered into the CMS.
  • Assist DRS personnel with case management, presentation preparation, and outreach event coordination by providing both substantive and practical help. Attend meetings, both internal and external, and record them as needed.
  • Keep all information about the accountability mechanism and the dispute resolution service completely secret.

  • The internship has complete funding.
  • Successful applicants will receive assistance in obtaining the required work visa for the duration of the internship.
