Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Seeds for the Future Program 2024 (Up to $15,000)

With regard to the program themes of civic participation, economic empowerment, social entrepreneurship, education, and environmental challenges, this scholarship offers money to the most outstanding young leaders in the region so they can implement projects that benefit their communities, nations, and the region as a whole.

The U.S. Department of State sponsors the program, which is made possible by a grant from the American mission in Southeast Asia. The program was first administered by Cultural Vistas in 2017.

The program provides opportunities for emerging leaders to connect with one another, exchange ideas, and collaborate on projects that promote economic growth, sustainable development, and social progress in their respective communities. Through this program, participants will gain valuable skills, knowledge, and experiences that will help them become effective agents of change in their societies. (up to $15,000).

Projects that are chosen will deal with problems or prospects associated with the four main YSEALI themes:

  • The U.S. Department of State is the competition sponsor, offering up to $15,000 in financing.

Eligibility for the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Seeds for the Future Program 2024

  • All key team members—the project leader, secretary, and treasurer—must be between the ages of 18 and 35 in order to be qualified.
  • Be nationals of one of the following 11 YSEALI countries: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Vietnam. Additionally, members of YSEALI must be registered.

Application for Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Seeds for the Future Program 2024

A small amount of funding will be awarded to application teams so they can carry out a project in one or more of the YSEALI member countries. Projects involving multiple nations will be given additional consideration throughout the assessment phase.

Teams of applicants must send in a thorough proposal, financial statement, and additional supporting materials. Every team needs to have a minimum of three core members and a designated project leader, secretary, and treasurer.
